Seventeen participants from various dioceses around the country attended a Project Proposal Writing Training at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Port Moresby. The Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (CBC) under the Church Institutional Strengthening Program (CISP) hosted the training, which started on the 22nd of June 2015 and ended on the 26th of June 2015.

The participants came from Mendi, Mt Hagen, Lae, Madang, Wewak, Kiunga, Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Kokopo, Kimbe, Alotau and Goroka and convened at Emmaus Conference Centre.

The training was to introduce participants to Proposal Writing. It was tailored for capacity building in documenting project proposals that would help on how to write clear and successful project proposals for donors and other charitable organisations. It had also looked at how to understand key issues that donors look for in project proposals.

Sales and Circulations Manager, Mr Henry Taikeu represented the Melanesian Institute (MIT) at that workshop.

“I thank the MI Administration for giving me this opportunity to participate in the workshop. This workshop had helped me in gaining some knowledge about project proposals,” he said.

Mr Taikeu said the training would benefit MI in terms of documentation of processes or procedures to be taken. For example; improvements to IT system including the website, taking part in MI projects that the Administration sees fit and also be involved by MI’s partner churches as a representative or personnel to help where need arises.
