New staff member for Education Department

Rev Ugufa Podi
 

Reverend Ugufa Podi is a pastor with the United Church. He joined the Education Department of the Melanesian Institute on the 16th of January 2016.

He comes from West Hiri in the Kairiku/Hiri District of Central Province and is married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Before joining the institute, he worked for the Department of Primary Industry in the Personnel Section (now Office of Forests under DPI) then worked as the Admin Officer with the PNG National Forest Authority.

With over 15 years’ as Admin Officer he finally decided to become a Pastor and went to Rarongo Theological College (now Rarongo School of Theology and Mission). He graduated with a Bachelor of Theology in 2000 and pastored in various congregations until 2013 when he went back for further training at Rarongo. Rev. Ugufa graduated with Master of Theology in 2015 and was posted to MI.

This is his first time to the highlands and he liked it very much therefore, he is planning on staying here for quite a while.
